A look back at the Dawgs' latest victory and what it means.
Georgia beats Florida 27 to 8, marking the ninth victory in the last ten years against the Gators. For us, beating Florida is more than just a game; it stirs deep memories and fierce rivalries, especially for those of us who grew up during the Spurrier era. It’s a sweet satisfaction to watch our Dawgs continue to dominate.
Defensive Mastery
Defense Shines
The Georgia defense was a standout in this game, effectively shutting down Florida’s offense and preventing significant yardage. We remember games where the defense had to carry the team, and this match felt similar. If not for some turnovers, this might have been the first shutout against Florida ever.
Running Game Issues
Running Back Rotation
While we ran for over 200 yards, the distribution of carries left us scratching our heads. Gunner Stockton had twelve carries while Dwight Phillips only had eight. Given his performance, we believe Dwight deserves more touches. If he had more carries, he could easily have eclipsed 100 yards.
Game Flow
Offensive Disjoint
Despite winning comfortably, the offensive flow wasn’t as smooth as it could have been. We felt that Georgia left points on the field, and the game could have easily been a blowout. The inconsistency in the running game and the tendency to abandon it mid-flow frustrated us, especially when we have such talented backs on the roster.
